Fruits are great foods. They are gold mines of the alkaline substances that the body needs in healing. They go a long way in safe- guarding, nurturing and building up the alkaline reserves of the body. It is these alkaline reserves that really help us to neutralize the acidity to maintain health. If the body has no mechanism to neutralize the kind of acid stuff that we put in and maintain the alkalinity of the blood on a day-to-day basis, where would have been out health levels. The body has huge alkaline reserves under normal conditions. These reserves are maintained and, if needed, increased by a regular fruit intake.
Fruits are very rich in one of the greatest friends of human body –Dietary Fiber. It is a great relief to so many problems. The dietary fiber acts as preventive to a host of diseases. It forms the bulk of the excreta and helps us overcome constipation and related problems, that too harmlessly. There are several very harmful and even dangerous ways being followed by many to overcome constipation.
Fruits help in regulating temperamental and emotional problems. They are rich in Lecithin, a substance that we need greatly to maintain good health and fight ageing, exhaustion, nervous problems and stress. Lecithin is very important for preserving youth and vitality.
Fruit is rich in many micronutrients that are needed for the body and which are not available elsewhere. Being from the nature, fruits are rich in these nutrients in the right balances and therefore are a great help to a healthy biochemistry. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids and many useful substances like bioflavonoids.
But the best aspect of the fruit is the fact that they are predigested foods, Fruits contain 80-90%water. And 90% of the rest is a predigested sugar called fructose in most cases. This fructose need not under go digestion. This can be directly absorbed by the body. Fruit contains very little protein and starch. And consequently, there is very little activity, energy needed for digestion. Therefore, fruit consumption will impose no burden at all on the digestive system. If we take for e.g. fruit alone as a diet for a day or two it is almost equivalent to fasting with nourishment. Also, fruit being water rich (80-90%) washes and cleanses the system. A good period of fruit diet cleanses the body, detoxifies the blood and builds up alkaline reserves in the body and upgrades many available positive and helpful physiological substances like lecithin in the body.
Have plenty, plenty, plenty of fruit everyday. Man is a fruitarian. It is as if the nature has created fruit for the sake of man. Except a few rodents and birds, most of the animals don’t take as much fruits as homosapiens do. Fruit can be a full diet for man. The composition of the fruit in terms of available starch and sugars and other nutrients is equivalent to human milk (mother’s breast milk). Fruit gives as much goodness to an adult as mother’s breast milk gives to an infant. It is as if the Mother Nature is giving Her milk to the man through the fruit.
Fruit is a highly pranic diet. It is very rich in positive pranic energies. Some fruits are found to have golden aura in ripe pristine state. It is a supreme healing diet. Especially during therapeutic periods, do not ignore this healing touch from the Mother Nature. Keep contact with nature through fruits. In my practice, I had given fruits even to some diabetic patients in large quantities, of course with good amount of monitoring throughout. I warn diabetics not to try this out without proper guidance and approval of the concerned physician.
Fruit is a saatvic diet. Sattva is established in the mind and the body by taking good quantities of fruit for long periods. If this discipline is followed, eliminating the effects of rajasic foods and other inputs from life, one can even overcome mild psychological conditions also. In my own life and practice I had treated several cases of aggression in children, some cases of hyperactivity, mild depressions, anxieties and fears by drawing help from this aspect of fruit diet.
It is my experience that sustained changes in the diet and lifestyle can influence the mind and the emotions.
Regulate your health by regulating your diet and life. May be, you can try taking only good amount of fruits and fruit juices and nothing else for a few hours, say till a timely lunch, everyday in the morning. Such a breakfast nourishes and prepares you for a healthy and energetic day. It nourishes for the whole day. It’s a body friendly program.
